THank you for viewing everyone.

I admit I dont normally do starship renders but while I was converting this one I really liked how it looked so I had to render it. The render is a combination of a DS4 render and a LuxRender render. LR did the lights and those where layered overtop of the DS4 render. THe sunlight was apart of the DS4 render though.

If anyone wants to download that mesh in Poser format, you can get it here - [link]

This is the ship I'm flying right now... different nacells, but almost identical.

The Nova was made by someone else and I dont recall it having any maps which may be part of the problem. No Aztec map for spec and bump.

The Akira Class is the same one that is over at Scifi-Meshes. I had to correct an error in the mesh. The mapping is not the best but it works.

No, it's clearly those registry OBJs. If I delete them from the scene, it renders beautifully. But when one or both are in the scene - even with their shadows turned off - it crashes the render for me. I had another friend try it out in DS. He was able to get it to screen render, but reported it'd crash when he tried to render-to-file.

Thanks again for doing that Akira! :D

Your Welcome! :)

You will be happy to know I have a solution to your issue comming shortly. 4 Trek fonts (one non canon) for changing names and registries. Some assembly will be required but they are extremely light weight and should be of great use to you.

You'd mentioned those. I'm curious to see how those will work.

So is the Akira UV mapped?

Its mapped. As conversions go, the maps are off in a few areas so not all the original maps are used. Im not too sure what they are all for anyways. I took one of the maps and modified it to be the spec and bump and tiled it to give it that nice look you see in the image. Both the DS and Poser mat files will tile the image for the correct surfaces.

I played with it last night. Works well! The only glitches seemed to be:

1) The "catamaran" banner stripes didn't load and didn't seem to work when manually applied
2) There were some quirky, asymmetric material zone associations - most notably inboard of the nacelles. If you're interested in addressing these in a fix, I'll be glad to get more detailed?

But it rendered just fine and your conversion makes a great impact. It's nice to finally have a decent Akira conversion for Poser/DS. :)

Oooo! You're doing a conversion of a good Akira class?!?! UBER COOL!!! Can't wait, man! I only hope that it doesn't have something like the "Nova class glitch" ;) I've still had no productive success in getting that one to render... (*sniff-sniff*)

Nice render. One of the people I follow, Arcass, does a lot of 3-D renders with Star Trek stuff.
